Deborah
Judges 4:1-24

SHALOM!!!!!! My name is Deborah and I am a prophetess. Do you know what a Prophetess is? It is a lady who speaks for God. You probably know who Elijah is don't you? Well, I am like Elijah only I am a woman.

I am also a judge and all of Israel comes before me for decisions of what is right and wrong. Instead of using a building to do my judging I sit outside under a tree called Deborah.

God sometimes uses women to do his will when there are no men who are brave enough to follow his plan.

Although god had rescued my people from trouble many, many times they continued to do evil and so ... .we have fallen into the hands of the king of Canaan. And ... As always... Our people are crying to god for help.

The king of Canaan has mighty army led by a man named Sisera, he commands 900 iron chariots and many, many soldiers.

God told me to summon Barak, the son of Abinoam, and command him to take 10,000 men from the sons of Naphtali and Zebulun and march to Mount Tabor and that he, our God, would cause Sisera and his army to come to the river Kishon where Barak and his army would win the battle and free our people.

When I told Barak what God had told me to tell him..... What do you think he said?? He said, "if you will go with me I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go"! I said to barak, "I will surely go with you but the honor will not be yours.... But God will give Sisera into the hands of a woman!!! So Barak and I called the 10,000 men together, as God had commanded and went to fight against the army led by Sisera.

In the morning, as God commanded me, I told Barak, "arise for this is the day that the Lord has given Sisera into your hands!!!!! Behold the Lord has gone before you!!! Don't you think Barak should have known if the Lord goes before us that there is nothing to fear?

The Lord defeated Sisera with all of his 900 iron chariots and his big, big Army!!!! Just like he said he would!!!!!

Barak and I sang a beautiful song to the Lord about His goodness and faithfulness to His people.

And after this.......we had peace in our land for forty years!!!! God always fullfills his promises to us and is always there for us when we are good.
